We mentioned a few weeks back that Mercedes was loaning seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher an F1 car to lap the notorious Nürburgring Nordschleife. Now we have video of that incredible event, with Schumi heading out on track behind an A45 AMG, a CLA45 AMG, an SLS AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG GT3 racer.
After a few days with the IS-F, we handed it off to Multimedia Editor Chris Amos, to put together one of our POV driving videos. If you want to know what driving the IS-F is like, just watch this.

Jaguar is stepping up to the plate when it comes to high-powered luxury sedans, with an R version of its flagship XJ. Packing the same 550-horsepower, 5.0-liter, supercharged V-8 found in the XFR-S and XKR-S, the new XJR will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG and Audi S8
We were offered a turn in a rare Evo GSR, complete with the old-school five-speed manual transmission. It had all the important bits, like the revvy, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, but the addition of a third pedal changes the Evo’s equation considerably. Join us as we take it for a spin in our latest POV test drive.
The Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is a perennial favorite among the Winding Road staff. It’s a fast, stylish, and muscular vehicle that we never get tired of driving. In fact, we enjoyed our last CLS so much that we had our own Chris Amos put together this POV driving video. We strongly recommend watching it with headphones on.
With the announcement of Driveclub for Playstation 4 comes some other interesting morsels of information and entertainment. For instance, Mercedes-Benz has said that the game will include the CLA45 AMG, based on the new compact CLA-Class, and gives us an early glimpse of the car in the picture we see here.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the C63 AMG Edition 507, which borrows some performance technology from the mighty SLS AMG.

The Detroit Motor Show is right around the corner (it runs from January 14 through 27) and it promises to be one heck of a show. One of its likely stars will be the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, a photo of which was revealed by MB this morning on its Facebook page.
Some cars just fail to make impressions on us. It’s not all that uncommon. Through some conspiracy of dull looks or lackluster performance or a middling interior, occasionally we just don’t have much to say. The Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is the complete opposite.
It certainly sounds like we’ll be seeing a high-powered Infiniti sedan that will do battle with the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, and Cadillac CTS-V, if a message from Infiniti’s president, Johan de Nysschen is to be believed.
Want a Winding Road car-buying tip? Never, ever, ever buy a new Mercedes-Benz supercar. Why, you ask? Because there will always be a better version right around the corner. It is this feeling of regret that is probably striking a number of SLS AMG GT buyers, as the all-new SLS AMG Black Series hit the stage in LA.
Volvo, that company of safety minded Swedes and maker of cars for your professor, clergyman, and other banal and humdrum people in your life has gone absolutely mad. Why, you ask? Because Polestar, Volvo’s tuning division, has taken the comfortable and stylish S60 and stuffed 508 horsepower under its hood. There’s also 424 pound-feet of torque. The result is the S60 Polestar Concept.
According to the Roundel-obsessed crew at BMWBlog.com, the all-new M6 Gran Coupe has received an exclusive unveiling at the Nürburgring, ahead of its official debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Oddly, we’ll start out our analysis of the SLK with a pricing argument. Our SLK350 had a starting price of $55,400. That price compares favorably with the $60,900 Boxster S and the $55,150 Z4 sDrive35i. After doing a bit of damage on the options list, the as-tested price had climbed to $67,020, and resulted in a car with the trick Magic Sky Control, Lighting Package, Multimedia Package, and Sports Package, among smaller goodies. It’s here where the SLK pulls ahead of its competitors. The Z4 lacks items like Airscarf, Magic Sky Control, and air-conditioned seats. The Boxster, meanwhile, is hurt by Porsche’s extensive (and pricey) options sheet. You’ll get a Boxster exactly as you want it, but it’ll like cost a lot more than our SLK.
As for the Range Rover Sport driving experience, it’s just as good as we remember. Jaguar/Land Rover could slot this 5.0-liter, supercharged V-8 in every vehicle it made, and we’d be happy as clams. Even in this heavy SUV, it is supremely quick. The run to 60 happens fast, but climbing from highway speeds is what’s really impressive. After some harassment by an overzealous Toyota Corolla, we dipped into the skinny pedal and found ourselves clipping along well into the triple digits.
Back in March we posted spy photos of a heavily camouflaged Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG that prompted rumors of a potential Black Series variant of the already potent supercar. Now, a recent post on autoevolution has confirmed those rumors—the SLS AMG Black Series is coming.
Being a Mercedes-Benz supercar, it’s no surprise that this thing is fast. 62 miles per hour comes up in a scant 3.9 seconds, thanks to the 740 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque generated by the four electric motors. Each motor weighs in at just under 100 pounds (99.21 to be exact), and can spin to 13,000 rpm. An axially arranged transmission allows each wheel to be driven selectively by the four motors.
We love wagons. We’d like to see more of them on American roads. We love their utility, their unassuming looks, and the sense of nostalgia the evoke from us. We also love Mercedes-Benz’s performance department, AMG. The sheer power and sporty luxury they combine are things we don’t think we could ever get sick of. It’s no surprise, then, that we were very excited to take loan of the new E63 AMG Wagon for a week.
