Rumors: Model News — Did Infiniti’s President Just Confirm A 550-Horsepower Flagship?

It certainly sounds like we’ll be seeing a high-powered Infiniti sedan that will do battle with the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, and Cadillac CTS-V, if a message from Infiniti’s president, Johan de Nysschen is to be believed.

 

Released today, the message is to curb the reactions to the brand’s new Q/QX naming strategy. In it, de Nysschen explains, “it would be a bit odd to have a powerful, luxurious and refined V-8-powered Infiniti M56, then position a new high-tech 550-plus-horsepower performance flagship for the Infiniti M range above it, using a potent charged-induction V-6, but then call it Infiniti M30, which we would be obliged to do, following our current naming logic.”

 

So there you have it: it looks like we’ll see a 550-horsepower Infiniti that’s based on the M sedan and is powered by a force-induced, 3.0-liter V-6. We’ll be following this one closely.
