Rumors: Spy Shots—Camo-less Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series

Back in March we posted spy photos of a heavily camouflaged Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG that prompted rumors of a potential Black Series variant of the already potent supercar. Now, a recent post on Autoevolution has confirmed those rumors—the SLS AMG Black Series is coming.

For the uninitiated, MB’s line of Black Series cars begin as the already incredibly powerful AMG variants. For the Black Series, though, AMG turns things up to 11, with more power, stiffer suspensions, and better brakes (to name but a few things). The SLS Black Series should be no exception. Under the hood will reside a 6.2-liter V-8 that churns out in the neighborhood of 620 horsepower, or roughly 60 horsepower more than the standard SLS. The dash to 60 miles an hour should be obliterated in the low three second range. Visually, the SLS Black should get a more aggressive body treatment, with extra vents and things for improved aerodynamics and improved cooling efficiency. Also, look for a bespoke set of wheels and a rear spoiler with a surface area that can be measured in acres.

While we don’t have specifics on price yet, we do know the SLS AMG Black Series should drop sometime next year and command a princely sum for its bonkers performance. Consider us interested.
