Rather than listing aesthetic-only mods like LED headlights, most wings out there, or even body kits, we’ll dive deeper into the performance side of things.

The new truck market is finally, gradually, returning to what it was in the early 2000s. What do we mean by that? For nearly a decade it seems like trucks have just gotten bigger, more expensive, and chocked full of premium options. Smaller trucks with lower base MSRPs have gradually become…

This week we take you behind the wheel of the new Shelby GT350R Mustang with Ford factory driver Steve Thompson behind the wheel. A clear response to Chevrolet’s Camaro Z/28, the GT350R puts the track-focused GT350 on a 130 pound diet by way of deleting the rear seat, air conditioning, stereo and other non-essential items, along with the use of carbon fiber wheels which remove 13 pounds of unsprung weight from each corner. Bolstered aero bits include a large rear wing and rear diffuser and a unique hood vent which extracts heat and also reduces lift. The GT350R keeps the 5.2-liter V8 from the standard GT350, with an output said to be over 500 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
This week we’re behind the wheel of what will likely be the tow vehicle of choice for many racers in the coming years – the all-new 2015 Ford F-150. Based on the Atlas Concept that Ford showed off at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, perhaps the biggest news about the new truck is the incredible diet it has gone on – one which has allowed the F-150 to shed 700 pounds of weight in the process (in certain configurations).

Featuring a carbon monocoque with structural carbon-fiber body panels with aluminum sub-frames front and back, the new GT takes a much more modern design approach than the retro-inspired aesthetic of the first GT.

Rumors circulating around the auto industry indicate that Ford is preparing to storm into next month’s Detroit Motor Show with no less than four high-performance models. Citing insider intel, Road & Track reports that Ford will present a track-ready variant of the 2016 Shelby GT350 that debuted last month in Los Angeles, a new SVT Raptor based on the aluminum-bodied F-150, a 300-horsepower Focus RS and, last but definitely not least, a range-topping supercar billed as a heir to the Le Mans-winning GT40 of the 1960s and the GT that was sold in limited numbers in 2005 and 2006. All of these upcoming sports cars will be grouped under a new performance-focused sub-brand that might be called 999, a name borrowed from Ford’s first-ever race car. We’ll have to wait until the Detroit Motor Show opens its doors to the press on January 12th, 2015, to find out exactly what Ford has in store. Until then, we’re taking a look at ten of the greatest factory-built high-performance cars ever to wear the Blue Oval emblem.
