In this list, we detail ten cars that really get you the most bang for your buck. Some of these aren't the most wallet-friendly of cars, but when it comes down to what class they compete in, you'd be hard pressed to find something just as good for the same price.
Getting involved in rallycross racing doesn’t have to mean being part of a factory-backed team with piles of cash. The Sports Car Club of America offers rallycross racing at very little cost to participants. To get started here are ten cars that fit the bill for $5000 or less.
The pro and college football seasons are well and truly underway, which means if you haven’t been, you need to start thinking about tailgates. Keys to a good tailgate vehicle include storage, looks, and seating among others. Oh yeah, and as per WR rules, they need to be pretty good to drive too. Go Blue!
Now that our Comfort Index has been around for a while, we felt it was about time we started going through and dissecting it. Our first subjects are the European cars on the list. Here, we have put together the current top 12 (there was a three-way tie for 10th place) most comfortable cars on our Index.
Wedding bells are ringing here at Winding Road. Editor-In-Chief Seyth Miersma will be saying “I do” this weekend, and in celebration of his impending nuptials, we’ve put together a list of cars that are ideal for wedding duty.
In celebration of the 2012 Wrangler, we’ve strung together some of the highlights of its long history. Starting off as the vehicle that helped defeat Hitler, the Jeep has soldiered on for 70 years, delivering affordable off-road performance that can’t be beat.
It’s no secret that there is near-universal love for convertibles here in the Winding Road offices (with the notable exception of cabriolet-hater John Beltz Snyder). In fact, we have an unwritten rule here at WR HQ, that unless it is raining, the top must be down, regardless of other weather conditions. The problem is, convertibles are, for the most part, a precious commodity.
You either love them or hate them; completely get what they’re trying to achieve or can’t, for the life of you, understand why anyone would throw their money away on something so stupid.
Bring these cars back. Seriously, there are some car models that, for a multitude of reasons, seem to resonate with the car enthusiast nation after they’re no longer available for us to buy new. Some on our list are obvious choices that have been crowed about for years, others are a bit more subtle, but all are worthy of resurrection.
Check out all of the concept art and vehicle briefs that were up for consideration in this year’s Challenge. Some fantastic art and design here, as well as more than a couple very innovative ideas behind the scenes. Don’t miss out on reading the descriptions

If there is one car that screams America, it’s arguably the Chevrolet Corvette. This legendary car has been a mainstay of American culture since its launch way back in 1953. Things weren’t always that easy for America’s Sportscar though. Read on to discover the Corvette’s path from a new American sportscar, to the legendary performance machine it is today.
The Involvement Index Awards draw near, folks, in our upcoming issue of Winding Road. We’ve already brought you our most involving American cars, all-wheel-drive cars, and the overall most involving cars per dollar. Now it’s time to take a look at the highest-rated Asian cars that we’ve driven since the inauguration of the Winding Road Involvement Index 2.0.
We came across an interesting statistic while working on the Quick Drive of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X SE last week. By cross referencing the Evo’s score on the Involvement Index, we discovered that each point of involvement would cost about $411. Compare that to our Index-topping Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sports, which with a $2.58-million price tag will cost approximately $26,000 per point, and you see the bargain that the Evo represents.
In Winding Road Issue 72, we will be announcing the winners of the 2011 Involvement Index Awards, where we select the most deserving, engaging vehicles from a range of categories. In anticipation of honoring the winners in about a month’s time, we’d like to take a look at the most involving American cars from our Index.
This weekend marks one of Winding Road’s favorite summer traditions, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This legendary endurance race will see entries from Peugeot, Audi, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Chevrolet, and Porsche among others. This list is hardly comprehensive though, so feel free to chime in in the comments section with your favorite cars that have conquered Le Mans.
Vacations aren’t always just about the destination, especially when you’ve got a great car as a companion. When we asked our Facebook followers what vehicles they take a shine to for the long haul, we gave a few stipulations: it has to be big enough for kids/friends/pets, as well as all of their luggage, and, most importantly, it has to be good to drive. We got some wonderful answers, and we have narrowed the field to our ten picks, here.
Yep, summer has officially started, which means that if you haven’t made some serious driving plans yet, you had better get a move on. We asked our Facebook fans to tell us which cars they thought were the very best for driving during the warm months. The answers were mostly convertible based, which is good, but a few, inspiring coupes snuck in for good measure, too.

Brennan also happens to be the owner of a deep and interesting personal car history—making him the perfect subject for the next installment in our series.
But what’s still missing from the Saab formula in these new efforts is the borderline batshit-craziness that we’ve come to love in the Swede’s of yore. Never fear, Saab product developers, we’ve got your backs. Here are ten stunning ideas as to how a real shot of quirkiness can be injected into the brand, and quick. (Well, we’re not sure how quickly the gas turbine-hybrid can be unleashed, but you get the idea.)
For every amazing deal we spot on eBay Motors, we find maybe a dozen or more horrendous potential bilkings. Especially around times like these, where very high gas prices are throwing many established values out of the door, there are more than a few sellers out there with some awfully wrong-headed ideas.
