Rumors: Teaser—Infiniti Emerg-E

The 2012 Geneva Motor Show will be the place where we will finally see, in its entirety, the much teased Infiniti electric sports car concept, which we now know will be called the Emerg E. With a mid-mounted electric powertain and sports car underpinnings, Infiniti is looking to blend sporting pretentions with “green” intentions. Like the Fisker Karma, the Emerg E will be bringing high-tech automotive technology into an entirely different market—and likely a different tax bracket as well—than where the majority of electrified vehicles current sit.

Detroit 2012: Live Photos Of The Nissan Pathfinder Concept

Nissan unveiled the Pathfinder Concept at today’s North American International Auto Show as a thinly veiled preview of the 2013 production model, which is set to arrive at dealerships this coming Fall.

Detroit 2012: Nissan Pathfinder Concept

The Pathfinder is motivated by a V-6 of undisclosed displacement and output, while shifting doesn’t really happen at all, thanks to a continuously variable transmission. This combination should be good for a 25-percent increase in overall fuel economy. No seven-passenger SUV worth its salt would come to market without an all-wheel-drive option, and the Pathfinder Concept is no exception. It should also be quite capable in the realm of towing.

Detroit 2012: Acura NSX Concept

Once again, ladies and gentlemen, we have a Acura NSX future to be excited about. Yes, we’ve been down this path before, with a concept car that was lost in the rubble of the 2008 financial meltdown (and reportedly shut down even before that by execs who felt the last car was a move in the wrong direction), but hope springs eternal here at Cobo, and we want this Greenformance supercar to see the light of day.

Detroit 2012: VW E-Bugster Concept, Live Images

When a concept car is called “E-Bugster,” and it proports to be a “speedster” that’s, very obviously, not a convertible, we’d forgive you for thinking that we made the whole thing up. Thankfully, we have live images of the imaginative concept car to back up the info you’ve already received.

Detroit 2012: Lexus LF-LC Concept

From Lexus, we’ll be seeing the LF-LC Concept. Designed as a two-plus-two sport coupe, the LF-LC is only a design exercise at this stage. If, its design language does end up adorning some future Lexus products, than the luxury brand is on a good path styling wise. The same “spindle grille” that we saw on the 2013 GS is there, but the aggressive fascia and sleek greenhouse aren’t exactly Lexus hallmarks (they do look excellent though). We also can’t complain about the classic long-hood-short-deck proportions
