Detroit 2013: Cadillac ATS, Ram 1500 Take North American Car/Truck Of The Year

News I By Brandon Turkus I January 14, 2013
Traditionally one of the first announcements of the North American International Auto Show, we now know the winners of the North American Car And Truck Of The Year awards.
Taking the title for cars is the excellent Cadillac ATS. GM’s new rear-drive sedan cemented its place as one of the industry’s best sports sedans by beating out the BMW 3-Series. Other competitors included the new Chevrolet Malibu, Dodge Dart, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Lincoln MKZ, Nissan Altima, Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ, and Toyota Avalon.
On the truck side, an actual pickup won the award. The heavily redone Ram 1500 beat out a spat of crossovers to win. With a new Pentastar V-6, eight-speed automatic, and an excellent air suspension were enough to beat out competitors like the Acura RDX, Audi allroad, BMW X1, Ford C-Max and Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe, Infiniti JX35, Mazda CX-5, and Nissan Pathfinder.
