Nissan has announced a new electric concept vehicle called the BladeGlider, which will debut at the Tokyo Motor Show. It’s meant to showcase the future of Nissan EVs, as well as act as a prototype for an upcoming production vehicle.
While the car enjoyed its public debut in Japan, Driver Michael Krumm took the Nissan ZEOD RC (Zero Emissions On Demand Racing Car) hybrid Le Mans prototype out onto the track at the six-hour World Endurance Championship race at Fuji Speedway. Then he gave some of his impressions on camera after the drive.
A while back, Nissan announced its exciting hybrid-electric racecar prototype, called the ZEOD RC (Zero Emissions On Demand Racing Car), designed to study electric racing technology, and compete in next year’s 24 Hours Of Le Mans race. Now, the speedy EV makes its Japan debut, along with more interesting details and several new videos to go along with it.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Nissan introduced a car that is part design study, part technology theory. The Nissan Friend-Me concept is a compact hybrid that focuses on in-car technology and entertainment.

Want the ultimate Nissan GT-R? Then get ready to shell out quite a bit of cash. Nissan has just announced pricing for the 2014 GT-R range, with the base model starting at $99,590. The Black Edition adds $9710 on to that, for a total of $109,300. Finally, the GT-R Track starts at $115,710.

Follow along as Ordonez flings his racer around the high-speed course, discussing the unique challenges that the Italian circuit brings to the table.
NISMO, Nissan’s performance arm, has always been a bit of an odd duck. It never had quite the sanctioning of AMG or M, or even F-Sport, instead being relegated to a 370Z with a tweaked suspension and an aftermarket parts catalog. That’s all set to change, as NISMO is now the official global performance car and motorsports sub-brand for Nissan.
John Snyder’s original, in-depth drive on the Nissan Altima was a positive one, focusing on the four-cylinder, CVT-equipped model. So naturally, we thought we’d take some time with a recent Altima press car to focus on the brawnier 3.5-liter V-6.
The upshot of the Sentra’s cabin is mainly one of space. There’s an absolute surplus of room. With 37.4 inches of rear legroom, the compact Sentra actually bests the mid-size Altima sedan. It also packs more space for backseat passengers than a host of competitors (Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Mazda3, Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus, and Hyundai Elantra). The Sentra isn’t just extra legroom, but space in general. With 95.9 cubic feet of interior volume and 15.1 cubic feet of cargo volume, the Sentra crams a huge amount of interior space onto a compact platform.
Being late to the party has its advantages. This was as true in college as it is in adult life. It’s especially true in the auto industry, where the buying public can be quite merciless in its criticism of outlandish or groundbreaking ideas (anyone remember BMW’s original iDrive?). Nissan has been quite late to the party with its Pathfinder SUV.
According to the Wall Street Journal Nissan is bringing back the Datsun brand in an attempt to provide affordable car ownership—very affordable, hoping to offer a car for just $3000 to $5000. Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan, has committed to offering six Datsun models, beginning in 2014.
The Paris Motor Show is approaching quickly, and while we’ve gotten a mere trickle of information regarding this year’s show, we suspect the deluge is on the way. For a start, we have this funky concept from Nissan. Called the TeRRA (yeah, we have no clue why the last three letters are capitalized either), it’s a zero-emissions fuel-cell-powered SUV. Utilizing a three-motor electric all-wheel-drive system, it’s meant to deliver a dose of green to greenlaning.
The Nissan GT-R in its current form has been with us for six years now and with every refresh, Nissan bestows ever more performance and power on its flagship car. Recent rumors had Nissan potentially cancelling the GT-R, but fortunately, those turned out to be untrue. Now, we know that 2018 will bring a major update to the GT-R, and the 2014 model seen here—courtesy of the spy shooters at GMotors—should quell our lust for a more powerful Godzilla nicely.
A huge focus for this new Pathfinder was fuel economy. As such, it’s cut over 500 pounds off of the 2012 Pathfinder, with base front-wheel-drive models tipping the scales at 4149 pounds, while the four-wheel-drive Pathfinder is a mere 4290 pounds. The resulting boost to fuel economy is impressive, with 20 miles per gallon in the city, and 26 mpg on the highway.
Road trip or no, week of vacation or no, great New England mountain roads or no—sometimes you just need to drive a damn van.
