Rumors: Spy Shots–Jaguar XFR-S Caught On The Nurburgring

News I By Doran Dal Pra I August 21, 2012

Back in February, we posted in the Rumors section that Jaguar was reportedly working on a hotter version of its already mighty XFR sedan. Now, we have virtually definitive proof that the rumors were true thanks to new photos from the spy photographers over at autoevolution. They caught the big Jag out on testing laps at the famed Nurburgring racetrack in Germany. Designed to compete with German bruisers like the BMW M5, Audi RS6 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, the Jaguar XFR-S takes the ingredients of the already potent XFR and turns them up to 11.

The swirled camouflage on the test car snapped here does little to hide the visual enhancements Jaguar has given it—larger air intakes, a wider track, reworked side skirts, and a small spoiler on the trunk. Beneath the beefed up sheetmetal lies a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 that will likely pump out in the neighborhood of 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. The XFR-S should hit 60 miles per hour in about 4.6 seconds and top out around 180 miles per hour.

Price and arrival date are still up in the air, but the XFR-S could arrive as a 2014 model for around $100,000 and make its public debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Motor Show in November.
