There’s something magical about five liters of displacement divided among eight cylinders. Right now, Ford, Jaguar/Land Rover, Hyundai, and Lexus are using them in various vehicles, and we haven’t found one that’s let us down yet. Whether naturally aspirated or supercharged, they all sing a great song and provide a healthy kick in the pants.
We have just taken delivery of a Ford Mustang GT equipped with a Roush Performance Stage 2 kit. Our droptop GT features the standard 5.0-liter V-8, but has been supplemented by a Roush Performance exhaust.
The Mustang GT has always been one of our favorite sports cars, and there’s more to love for the 2011 model year — the Mustang GT gets an all-new 5.0-liter V-8 engine, producing 412 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.
Mercedes-Benz’s line of AMG cars are potent performers, and the much-loved 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V-8 lies at the heart of every AMG currently available (save the SLK and G, of course). And while we’ve grown very fond of this sweet-sounding mill over the past years, a report from Edmunds’ Inside Line reveals that our 6.2-liter bomber might not be around much longer.
