Beijing 2012: Auto Show Round Up

News I By Brandon Turkus I April 24, 2012
As this year’s Auto China show in Beijing begins to slow down, it’s becoming more and more obvious that the Chinese show is not one to be missed. Helped along by the ever-increasing number of cars the Chinese economy consumes, auto makers the world over have taken notice of Auto China, and brought some serious hardware to reflect that.

There were a few major themes at this year’s show. Luxury played a big part, as the Chinese market continues to gobble up executive sedans and luxury cars at an alarming rate. Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Land Rover, Lamborghini, and Porsche all debuted production cars or near-production concepts at this year’s show.

The other major theme, which we mentioned above, was the production-readiness of this year’s show. Most of the “concepts” were in reality based on production cars (Rolls-Royce Ghost Six Senses Concept, Audi A6L e-tron Concept, Seat Ibiza Cupra Concept). Only Mercedes-Benz’s Concept Style Coupe, Peugeot’s Urban Crossover Concept, and Honda’s Concept C and Concept S really met the typical concept criteria.

It was an exciting show this year, and we’ve wrapped it all up for you right here.
