Rumors: Spy Shots—2015 Ford Mustang Scooped

News I By Doran Dal Pra I November 20, 2012

Ford Mustang fans have had much to celebrate over the past few years. Models like the Mustang Boss 302 and the 2013 Shelby GT500 have not only elevated the entire Mustang brand to new heights, but also breathed new life into the American muscle car wars. And the ultimate winner in all this? You, the driver. Now, drivers may have more reason to celebrate if these spy photos, courtesy of Autoblog, are a true indication of things to come.

Accompanying the Mustang’s new independent rear suspension (finally, and thank you) will be a restyled front end that will likely share design cues with the new Ford Fusion and the stunning Evos concept vehicle from the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The rest of the prototype seen here looks very similar to the current Mustang, though with that much camouflage draped all over it, it is hard to tell. We still don’t know for certain what powerplants will make it under the hood of the 2015 Mustang, but we would guess some iteration of the current 5.0-liter V-8 will be featured in there, as well as some flavor of a Ford EcoBoost engine. Ford has confirmed that at some point the Mustang will indeed get an EcoBoost engine—could this be the one? We’re keeping our fingers crossed. All of them.

Stay tuned for more.
