The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class now has a price tag, and it starts $2100 below the outgoing model.
Ignore it all. Ignore the styling. Ignore the dated trim. Ignore the HVAC. Ignore the iDrive system. Ignore everything about the 2013 BMW M3 except for the way it drives and you’ll find a vehicle that is still a competitive and lust-worthy driving instrument six years after it went on sale.
The Zonda Revolucion generates 800 horsepower from the same AMG-derived, 6.0-liter V-12 found in the Zonda R racecar. Not one to pack on the extra fat, Pagani has trimmed this Zonda’s weight to just 2354 pounds. Yes, this 800-horsepower, V-12-powered car weighs about the same as a Mazda2 while developing eight times the horsepower. That works out to a weight-to-power ratio of just 2.94 pounds for every horsepower.
SRT is offering this, the Viper TA. With the “TA” standing for time attack, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this Viper is designed for track duty (although it is, in fact, street legal). First and foremost for the TA is a bespoke suspension tune, oriented towards on-track ability. A two-mode Bilstein suspension offers stiffer damping over the “standard” Viper, while springs and sway bars have also been refocused. A carbon-fiber x-brace takes the place of the of the aluminum unit found in lesser Vipers.
Really, there’s not a lot to tell here. This is the lovechild of a 500 Abarth and a 500C. The powertrain, suspension, and brakes are all the same, as is the glut of scorpion badges. Now they’re just joined by the same, three-stage retractable canvas roof.
The Jaguar XF Supercharged manages to strike a prime balance between sports and luxury, in the same way that its Germanic rivals have been doing for decades. The major difference is that it comes with a heaping helping of supercharger to speed affairs along. With a price that, once options are added, will likely undercut the competitors, and the aforementioned power and poise, the Jaguar XF Supercharged would be a hard car for us to turn away.
We don’t know many of the details, but a gallery of photos on Underground Racing’s website, found through Automotorblog, offers up a visual preview of the tuner’s biturbocharged version of the already sublime Ferrari 458 Italia.
Boy, has the E-Class Mercedes ever come a long way from being the world’s taxi cab. This latest W212 four-door E-Class is a proper executive sedan filled to the gills with technology, luxury, and style. What is already an edgier base model E-Class goes to the edgy-looking extreme here in the 518 horsepower, E63 AMG and you either mind that or you don’t. We do feel the edge is a little overstated, but it’s certainly not heinously so.
