World Racing League Offers a New Amateur Endurance Racing Alternative

It’s not every day we get to report on the founding of a new option for amateur racing. So it’s with a fair bit of excitement that we bring you news of the World Racing League, a recently founded sanctioning body which seems to bridge the gap between the “almost anything goes” fast and loose style of ChumpCar and the 24 Hours of LeMons endurance leagues and the costlier options from sanctions like SCCA and NASA.

NASA Announces New Dry Weather Tire For Spec Classes

Following the transition of Spec Miata, 944 Spec, and Spec E30 last season, as of February 1st of the 2014 racing season, the American Iron, Camaro Mustang Challenge, Honda Challenge, Factor Five Challenge, and 986 Spec classes will begin running on the new Toyo Proxes RR two-groove competition D.O.T. radial tire during dry weather competition.

Miata Challenge Project: Racing On A Budget

We’re joining a new racing series in order to answer a question many of you may have: what does it really cost to go racing? Proponents of activities like sailing or horse racing or skiing will all tell you to be sure you understand the costs before you get in too deep. Or, as the adage goes, “a sailboat is a hole in the water into which one pours money.” That’s funny, but it doesn’t really do much to tell you whether you can afford the sport. We’ll try to give you an idea over the course of the next few issues.

Elon Musk’s Other Car Really Flies: SpaceX Launch Successful

This week, Elon Musk’s SpaceX company became the very first commercial company to send a spacecraft into low-Earth orbit, and have it successfully re-enter the atmosphere. After NASA’s Space Shuttle retires from service in 2011, SpaceX hopes to have a launch program in place with which to service the international space station.
