Aston Martin DB10 to Star in the Next James Bond Film

Lifestyle, News I By Bradley Iger I December 04, 2014
It comes at little surprise that Daniel Craig will find himself at the helm of an Aston Martin for the next 007 film, SPECTRE. But what sets the next film apart from its predecessors is that instead of Bond launching rockets and throwing out spike strips from a heavily modified version of a current product Aston Martin model, he will instead do so from the all-new DB10, a bespoke coupe designed specifically for the film.

Just 10 DB10 examples will be made, all for use in the movie, and sadly none of them will ever see road duty as they will not be available for sale afterward. Instead, the DB10 will serve as a precursor to some of the changes to expect from the brand down the line, and the DB10 shows a clear intention to shake things up and step away from the current aesthetic of Astons, which have been with the brand for some time now.

"In the same year that we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that today we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond," said Aston CEO Andy Palmer at today’s announcement at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England. “I’m incredibly proud of everyone in the team at Gaydon who have brought this special project from concept to reality."

What’s underneath the skin of the DB10 is anyone’s guess at this point, though Aston’s naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12, good for about 570 horsepower, seems like a safe bet. Of course, with the new partnership they’ve stuck with AMG for engine production, it wouldn’t be out of the question for the DB10 to receive a warmed-over version of the 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 that powers the Mercedes-AMG GT, either.

The 24th film in the Bond series is scheduled for release in the US on November 6th, 2015. Check out the video below to see the DB10 unveiling at Pinewood Studios, and have a look at the press release for additional details on the DB10.

The luxury British sports car brand is delighted to confirm that James Bond will once again drive an Aston Martin in Spectre. On this occasion, it will be a model developed specifically for the film and built in-house by the brand’s design and engineering teams.
