New Details On Next-Generation BMW 3-Series Leak Out, U.S.-Only Sport Model In The Cards

News I By Steven J. Ewing I January 06, 2010

The BMW 3-Series is one of the most well-known vehicles in the enthusiast market, and with each new generation, BMW knows that it has to be relatively subtle with the overall tweaks, keeping the whole goodness of the 3-Series in tact.

For the 2011 3-Series, Bimmerfile reports that we can expect new bumpers, LED lights, and very modest interior tweaks. What’s more, BMW will be offering optional pull/pull paddles for non-manual transmission cars, rather than the standard push/pull units currently found on non-M models. Cars equipped with the sport package will now ride on nineteen-inch wheels, rather than eighteens, and new color choices will be available, as well.

Most interestingly, we’re told that a U.S.-exclusive “is” model will be available, using a choice of either DCT or sport automatic transmissions, and special tweaks to the car’s overall styling and aerodynamics. We expect this to be something along the lines of the new Z4 sDrive35is, which officially debuts at the Detroit Auto Show next week.
