At first glance, these new spy photos—courtesy of Automobile—seem to be of a new Ford, what with the conspicuous oval shaped badge in the center of the grille. However, we have been assured that this is actually the 2014 Cadillac Escalade in heavy camouflage—that signature Cadillac egg crate grille is a dead giveaway.
Not a lot is known about the 2014 Escalade, other than Cadillac is planning on moving it further upmarket by introducing a more luxious interior in which the company’s new CUE infotainment system is likely to play a part. It is also rumored that the brand new LT1 small-block V-8 that General Motors just released could make its way under the Escalade’s hood, as could a biturbo iteration of GM’s popular 3.6-liter V-6. Whatever engine finds its way into the big Caddy’s engine bay, it should be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new Escalade will ride on the same GMT900 platform that underpins the next generation of pickup trucks and SUVs from GM like the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Tahoe.
