Nürburgring EV record Rimac Nevera on track

The Nürburgring EV record has been completely and utterly broken by the Rimac Nevera, clearing the pervious Nürburgring EV record of the Tesla Model S Plaid by a mind-blowing 20 seconds. With news of the new Mustang GTD gunning for a sub seven-minute time, and the Mercedes-AMG ONE setting the all-time production car record last year in the mid six minutes, it’s awesome to see manufacturers continue to push the boundaries on the Green Hell.

The Nevera’s journey to this record-breaking moment was not without its challenges. Croatian racing driver Martin Kodrić shed light on the rigorous preparation that went into this accomplishment. Battling varying weather conditions during practice sessions, the team chose a scorching summer day to make their mark on the track. The result was a lap time that not only surpassed expectations but also highlighted the Nevera’s versatility. Engineered to be a comfortable hyper GT for everyday road use, the Nevera showcased its dual personality – gentle and city-friendly yet ferocious on the track.

Navigating the treacherous Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Nevera broke the Nürburgring EV record by dancing through the curves and stretches with finesse. The power of its 1,914 horsepower seamlessly distributed among its four wheels propelled it out of turns and down straights with unparalleled agility. It’s no wonder that enthusiasts and experts alike found themselves captivated by the Nevera’s performance.

Emilio Scervo, the Chief Technology Officer at Bugatti Rimac, hailed the Nürburgring EV record achievement as a testament to innovation and dedication. With minimal laps of industry pool testing and an innovative virtual performance optimization approach, the Rimac team demonstrated their engineering prowess and adaptability. The Nevera, designed primarily as a hyper GT, proved that it could dominate the track as effortlessly as it conquered the road.

However, this Nürburgring EV record was not an isolated occurrence. Throughout 2023, the Nevera has been on a record-breaking spree. From setting numerous performance records in a single day at the Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) to claiming the title of the fastest electric production car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s hill climb, the Nevera’s achievements have been nothing short of spectacular.

Mate Rimac, the Founder and CEO of the Rimac Group, spoke about the Nevera’s role in redefining hypercars. He noted that breaking records was not just about achieving milestones but also about showcasing the Nevera’s capabilities to the world.
