When Mercedes-Benz unveiled the AMG Project ONE back in 2017, they had one thing on their mind: the Nürburgring Nordschleife Lap-Time Record for a production car. Now called the Mercedes-AMG ONE (I like it), the time has come to put their money where their mouth is.
Mercedes didn’t want to have the most powerful production car (although the Mercedes-AMG ONE has over 1,000hp), they only wanted to lay claim to being the fastest around the “Green Hell”. After what seems an eternity, over 5 years to be exact, Mercedes-AMG factory driver Maro Engel powered the F1 powered Mercedes-AMG ONE around the Nürburgring in an astonishing 6:35.183 – a full 8 seconds faster than the Porsche 911 RS Manthey (which arguably isn’t a production car anyway).
For a full list of top times around the ‘ring, Wikipedia has a great running order – there are some impressive cars for sure.
