Porsche Rolls Out LMP1 Prototype For First Test Ahead Of 2014 Debut

News I By Brandon Turkus I June 12, 2013
Porsche’s return to the top flight of endurance racing was visualized for the first time today, with the reveal of its new LMP1 racer on Facebook.

Designed to take the fight to the diesel-hybrid Audi R18 e-tron Quattro and the Toyota TS030 Hybrid, the unnamed hybrid is Porsche’s first car to run in the prototype class since the LMP2 RS Spyder in 2009.

That car saw class victories in both of its Le Mans outings. Competition in the LMP1 class is significantly stiffer, though. Details are still scarce about the newest Porsche racer, but we expect to hear plenty about it within the next year or so.
