One Of The Most Exciting Races We Can Remember: Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup Race 2

The MX-5 Cup season started last weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Both races on that weekend were intense, Race 2 especially so as you can see in the coverage below provided by the IMSA announcing team. Be sure to stick around until after the first yellow (for WRR car #50 unfortunately). 

 

You can also ride along with Team Winding Road Racing driver Tom Martin III in this archived experimental livestream footage as he competed in the race in car #21. Since starting position in Race 2 is determined by a driver’s second fastest qualifying time during a single session before the Race 1, Martin found himself in 28th position on the grid for this second race. He went on to battle his way up to the 16th spot by the end of the race, improving his times by more than 1.5 seconds a lap along the way (If you want to fast forward to the end of the pace lap, skip ahead to about 10:45):
