Images of New John Cooper Works Mini Leaked Before Official Reveal

Cars, News I By Winding Road Staff I December 10, 2014
The hottest version yet of the third generation Mini Cooper is set to officially debut next month at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, but Australian site Car Advice has decided to beat Mini to the punch, revealing shots of the new car as well as some details on what the JCW treatment will entail.

The hopped up Mini is said to be packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder motor outputting a healthy 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, easily outgunning its predecessor and even trumping the limited production Mini John Cooper Works GP, which produced 211 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque from a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill.

According to the leak, the new JCW Mini should get from 0-62 mph in a brief 6.1 seconds.

Aside from the beefed up body work, the JCW Mini will come equipped with an upgraded suspension with optional adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, an electronic differential, and high performance rubber.

With official images of the car now out in the wild, it’s likely that Mini will release all the details of the John Cooper Works edition shortly, so keep an eye out for updates as we have them. In the meantime, check out the gallery to see the new JCW Mini in high resolution glory.
