Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vision One-Eleven, a new sports car study that pays tribute to the iconic C 111 experimental vehicles from the 1960s and 70s while embracing the future of electric mobility. The Vision One-Eleven combines a dynamic design language with innovative all-electric powertrain technology, showcasing the brand’s commitment to what they call “ICONIC LUXURY“.
The exterior design of the Vision One-Eleven features a sporty interpretation of the One-Bow design, characterized by a smooth bow running from the low-slung front end to the muscular rear. The body is painted in a deep orange color with copper undertones, reminiscent of the distinctive orange-and-black paintwork of the C 111. The flush-fit gullwing doors and opaque side windows with a pixelated pattern add to the futuristic aesthetic. The large-diameter wheels and aerodynamic elements further enhance the sporty and refined look of the car.
Underneath the striking exterior, the Vision One-Eleven is powered by an innovative axial-flux motor developed by YASA, an electric motor specialist. The axial-flux motor is highly efficient and offers motorsport-like power output in a compact package, making it ideal for high-performance electric vehicles. The car is equipped with a liquid-cooled cylindrical-cell battery that features high-performance cells with Formula-1 inspired chemistry, ensuring optimal power delivery and longevity.
Moving to the interior, the Vision One-Eleven combines a lounge-like feel with super sports car minimalism. The seats are integrated into the interior sculpture, merging the sills, center tunnel, and luggage compartment into a cohesive unit. This creates a spacious and airy environment that invites occupants to relax. The interior features a progressive color concept, with white fabric upholstery displaying a tech-look honeycomb structure and bright orange leather accents. Polished aluminum and diamond-quilted upholstery add to the luxurious and futuristic ambiance.
The interior design also incorporates a fusion of analogue and digital elements. The dashboard features a pixelated display that shows digital art pieces and vehicle information, while a compact touchscreen with a high-resolution display provides additional controls. The Vision One-Eleven takes the user experience to a new level with an augmented reality (AR) interface. When wearing the Magic Leap 2 AR headset, the driver experiences a seamless blend of physical and digital content, enhancing situational awareness and providing contextualized information.
In terms of its electric powertrain, the Vision One-Eleven showcases the potential of the axial-flux motor developed by YASA. This motor technology offers higher power and torque density while being lighter and more compact compared to traditional radial-flux motors. The innovative battery concept with high-performance liquid-cooled cylindrical cells, featuring a novel cell chemistry, further enhances the car’s performance and range.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven is a testament to the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and technology. By drawing inspiration from the legendary C 111 and incorporating cutting-edge electric powertrain technology, the Vision One-Eleven sets a new standard for the future of electric mobility, combining iconic design with sustainable and high-performance driving.
