The 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has come and gone already, but amazing videos from the event are still finding their way online. In this one, Jeff Zwart tackles the mountain in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
Over the last weekend of June, Sébastien Loeb set a new record for the fastest run up to the summit in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. In the Peugeot 208 T16, has made it up the mountain in just 8:13.878, over a minute an a half faster then the record set last year by Red Bull teammate Rhys Millen.
Rhys Millen will defend his 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb win, and challenge his own world record in the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe PM580T. Hyundai has released this first video of a series about the team’s 2013 Pikes Peak run.
Frankly, we love hill-climb and we thought this GT3R looked the part. By the way, if you get a chance to be a spectator at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb—do it. Bucket list worthy.
Last weekend was the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Before, nobody had ever completed the 12.42-mile run in under ten minutes. That ended on Sunday, when Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima smashed his own world record, finishing in 9:51.278, all while dodging spectators, drifting through the dirt, and coming perilously close to driving off the mountain.
The Nissan Leaf will make its motorsports debut later this month at the 89th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs on June 26. It will be competing in the Electric division (a new and relatively small division). With the evolution of the PPIHC taking place before our very eyes, we thought it a good opportunity to review the various divisions that will be competing this year.
