Because COTA is a new track and a singular facility in the US (e.g., United States Grand Prix site, $400 million facility) we thought you might enjoy some of our thoughts on the experience before we can do our standard Track Profile.
Workers have returned to the Circuit Of The Americas after a weeks-long delay, according to the Austin American-Statesman. Questions about the pace of the construction have been raised for over a month, as conflicting reports came in on the progress of America’s first purpose-built Formula 1 track. This comes after the original date of June 17, 2012 was moved to November 18 of next year.
The Australian V8 Supercar series has announced plans to race at Austin’s Circuit of The America’s starting in 2013. It will join the revived Formula 1 United States Grand Prix as well as a round of the MotoGP World Championship, meaning that Texas will soon be boasting some of the best racing on the planet. Texas Governor Rick Perry and Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh made the announcement.
