Pirelli World Challenge Adds Race Weekend to 2015 Season, Revised Calendar Announced

News, Racing I By Winding Road Staff I November 04, 2014
A few weeks ago the organizers of the Pirelli World Challenge released a race season schedule for 2015, but today they announced another date that they’re added to the roster, as well as what they’re pretty sure is almost the finalized calendar for 2015, which we’ve included here.
The additional race weekend benefits the GT and GTA classes, which will return to the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix on May 29-31, 2015 for a pair of GT/GTA races.
Scott Bove, President and CEO of WC Vision, had this to say about the added weekend in the Motor City:
“We released what was to be the final schedule a few weeks back. The response from our fans, teams, drivers and marketing partners has been overwhelming in support of us continuing the negotiations with the track. Those discussions were rekindled, and over the past two weeks we have mutually agreed to add the DGP to our schedule.”
Bove also stated that the purse for the event will be a record for the GT class, with additional details surrounding the event coming in the next few weeks.
The addition of the race weekend in Detroit gives the PWC’s 2015 calendar a total of 20 races for the GT and GTA classes. One additional TC/TCA/TCB race weekend is still to be announced.
