McLaren Mercedes MP4-28 Unveiled In Woking

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes took the wraps off its 2013 Formula 1 racer today.

 

McLaren is claiming this car is a significant redesign of 2012’s challenger. Following 2013’s new regulations, the nose of the MP4-28 features a “vanity panel,” designed to hide the unattractive nose of last season’s car. The overall look of the car, though, isn’t a huge departure from last season.

 

Dictated by regulations, the engine of the MP4-28 is a 2.4-liter V-8. Power figures aren’t mentioned, but we’re going to assume it’s in the neighborhood of the 750 horsepower generated by the Lotus E21.

 

In personnel news, you might notice Louis Hamilton’s replacement, Sergio Perez, in the gallery. The young Mexican was a strong performer last season, finishing tenth overall and netting three podiums at Sauber. Here’s hoping he does well with his new team.
