Mazda Expands U.S. MX-5 Miata Restoration Parts Program

Cars, News I By Peter Nelson I October 30, 2019

Holding the momentum of celebrating the Miata’s 30th anniversary of its debut at the Chicago Auto Show, as well as a successful 2019 Miata Reunion at Laguna Seca a few weeks back, Mazda has announced its expanded U.S. MX-5 Miata Restoration Parts Program.

With now over 1,100 new and legacy parts available to support any fan’s restoration project, Mazda is continuing to support its long-term, loyal enthusiasts with quality, genuine parts, many of which have been updated with modern materials. This includes newly-developed fabric soft tops, as well as partnering with Japanese wheel institution Enkei to produce aluminum wheels designed like original Mazda equipment, though thanks to current technology are lighter and stronger than the originals fitted in the factory 25+ years ago. Another part that piques our interest: Cusco limited-slip differentials for the 1.6 NA.

From Mazda's press release:

"There is a pure feeling of joy when it comes to driving a Miata, of any generation,” said Masahiro Moro, Chairman and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. “Our unique Jinba-Ittai – ‘horse and rider as one’ – engineering philosophy has allowed for the engaging and exhilarating driving dynamic that has remained constant over the years, helping make the Miata an important vehicle for the brand and our fans. By helping prolong the life of MX-5 Miata NA models, Mazda is committed to supporting the roadster culture and looks forward to seeing these historic vehicles on the road – and on the track – for years to come.”

Long live the legendary, huge-smile-inducing NA Miata. The extensive parts catalog can be found here. Interested in having Winding Road Racing spruce up your NA with these parts? Contact Winding Road Racing’s shop for more info!
