Here is a race video from a recent shakedown and tire test for Spec MX-5 Challenge cars at Circuit of The Americas. This was driver Robert Crocker's first race weekend at COTA and he faced multiple challenges in addition to learning the track. Problems with his original car in Race 1 led the team to use a backup car for Race 2; this resulted in starting Race 2 from last place. And, because this was an SCCA SuperTour event, the Yokohama race rubber used in the Spec MX-5 Challenge had the Spec MX-5s classed in EP, where cars typically have 30 more hp and 300 lb lower weight. Then there was the steady rain. But, as shown here, rain can be a great equalizer and a showcase for talent. Watch as Robert runs through the field. Can he pull off the win in The Little Spec MX-5 That Could?
