Spy Shots: Suzuki Swift Three-Door Prepares For U.S. Arrival

News I By John Beltz Snyder I January 22, 2010

We just got these spy photos of the next-gen, three-door Suzuki Swift, and, if all goes according to plan, we should see it here in the U.S. by the end of the year.

With front-wheel drive standard, there are rumors of an all-wheel-drive version in the works. Gasoline and diesel engines are available globally, but we’re not sure which exact engines we’ll see on our shores. We do expect to see the Swift Sport, the hottest of the Swift hatch lineup.
See the three-door version in the gallery, or scroll down for more information from the photographer.

Suzuki is working on the next generation Swift, and earlier we have showed you spy photos of the 5 door version.  But this time we can show you the first shots of the sportier looking 3 door version during some cold weather testing.

There will be a range of both petrol and diesel engines, and it’s likely that a hybrid version will follow. The Swift Sport will be the top of the line model, and hopefully it will have the same amount of Fun-factor as the current version. Front-wheel drive will be standard, but there are some rumors that they might be an all-wheel-drive version available.

And what’s more important for the US market is that Suzuki has announced that they will bring back the Swift to the US in 2010. Gene Brown, marketing director of American Suzuki Motor Corp said “The Swift is known as a pocket rocket internationally, and that is the type of product we want here.“
