The spy photographers over at Autoblog just recently caught this, a camouflaged 2014 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee, out and about on the road. When the refreshed Grand Cherokee is fully revealed, which should be at the Detroit Auto Show this coming January, we’ll be able to see what’s going on under all that camo–likely a slimmer nose thanks in part to revised, narrower grille openings and new fog light clusters. Jeep is pushing hard to get the 2014 model into customer’s hands, so much so that the company shortened the 2013 model year and is saving major updates for the model you see here.
Some of those updates should include a new-to-the-United States 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine that produces 241 horsepower and 406 pound feet of torque–the same engine currently used in the European version of the Grand Cherokee–and a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission that should end up mated to the Pentastar V-6. Production of the 2014 Grand Cherokee is rumored to begin in May of next year, and Jeep is banking on this freshly reworked model continuing the current car’s robust sales trend.
