Rumors: Ferrari 458 Scuderia To Appear At Frankfurt?

According to a report from Car And Driver, we could see a higher-performance Ferrari 458 Scuderia at this year’s Frankfurt auto show. The brand’s entry-level mid-engined model has been on sale long enough to spawn a dedicated competition variant, called the 458 Challenge. As with the previous 430 Scuderia, the 458 Scud will likely draw a lot of inspiration from the racing car.

 

Car And Driver is reporting power will be bumped up to around 600 horsepower in addition to a lower curb weight. The new model could also see an improved seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission as well as an increased redline for the already high-revving (9000 rpm) 4.5-liter V-8.

 

Finally, active aerodynamics are mentioned rather prominently, with the rumored Scuderia to get a carbon-fiber rear diffuser in place of the plastic composite that can be automatically adjusted based on driving conditions.

 

We’ve been more than ready for a faster 458, and from the sounds of this report, development is moving along quite well. We’ll find out for certain what this new model is capable of if/when it debuts in Frankfurt.
