Porsche Prepares For 2014 With LMP1 Prototype

News I By John Beltz Snyder I August 27, 2013
Porsche is getting pumped up for its return to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2014, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It has released a handful of photos of its LMP1 car, as well as a dramatic video recalling Le Mans races past.

The psychedelic camouflage hides some of the subtler details of the LMP1 car, but we can make out the basic shape, as well as some of the major aerodynamic components. We love the look of the roof scoop and rear wing, and those headlights must look pretty intimidating in a driver’s mirrors. The thin, vertical brake lights on the rear end are interesting, too.

Porsche’s recipe for success for 2014 is fairly straightforward: “Our strategy? The same one that we employ when developing every Porsche—start from scratch, scrutinize every last detail and leave the past behind.” But your past is so cool, Porsche.

We can’t wait to see Porsche’s LMP1 contender in action but for now we’ll have to settle on these images. Have a closer look in our attached gallery.
