When it comes to bucket list road racing tracks, pretty much everyone can rattle off most of the Big 10: Watkins Glen, Road America, Laguna Seca, COTA, Road Atlanta, Sebring, VIR, Mosport, Sonoma and Mid-Ohio. Those tracks are on bucket lists because they are on the pro circuit and most of them have substantial histories. We might get up to the Big 12 if we added famous tracks that have road course variants: Indianapolis and Daytona.
After that, we have Tier 2 bucket list tracks that are more completely focused on amateur racing but which offer something special. We think these tracks deserve more attention. They generally hold more races, they may be closer to you and sometimes they are better for racing (more interesting or less risky).
This week we take a look at a Tier 2 bucket list track: NOLA Motorsports Park. Many drivers like NOLA for its Alan Wilson layout and its runoff, plus the fact that it is very close to New Orleans (14 miles). Take a ride with driver Jamie Beck in his 2013 "Budget Boss" around the track to get a feel for it:
