Isotta Fraschini Unveils Street-Legal Le Mans Hypercar

Isotta Fraschini, an iconic Italian car brand with a rich history dating back over a century, has surprised the automotive world by announcing the launch of the Tipo 6 LMH Strada. Unlike the Ferrari 499P Modificata, this is a road-legal hypercar.  Priced at a cool $3.4 million, the Tipo 6 LMH Strada is the street version of Isotta Fraschini’s Le Mans Hypercar set to compete in the 2024 WEC with Vector Sport.

A Resurrected Legacy

Despite not producing cars for decades, Isotta Fraschini’s return to the automotive scene is nothing short of spectacular. The Tipo 6 LMH Strada marks a bold statement of resurgence for a company whose glory days trace back to the 1930s. Unveiled in Milan, near the birthplace of the original company, this hypercar has taken to the streets, showcasing its prowess amidst the hustle and bustle of city life and the open highway.

Performance that Commands Attention

The Tipo 6 LMH Strada is not just a road-legal version; it’s a direct descendant of its racing counterpart, the Competizione. Beneath its sleek exterior lies an FIA carbon fiber monocoque and body by Arstec, concealing a sophisticated suspension system and a formidable chassis.

Powering this beast is a hybrid V6 engine. The Isotta Fraschini 3.0-liter 90-degree turbocharged V6 generates an impressive 750 horsepower, complemented by an electric motor contributing an additional 270 horsepower. The result is a staggering 1,020 horsepower unleashed through a seven-speed sequential gearbox to all four wheels. With a weight of just 2,204 lbs, the Tipo 6 LMH Strada accelerates to a mind-bending 236 mph.

Precision Engineering

Beneath the surface, the hypercar boasts a double wishbone suspension with five-way shock absorbers, an adjustable anti-roll bar suspension, and more. Massive 20 and 21-inch wheels shod with Pirelli P-Zero tires conceal Brembo six-piston calipers gripping 15-inch rotors in the front and 14-inch rotors in the rear. The focus on performance is evident, leaving little room for unnecessary frills in the minimalist interior, designed for a singular purpose.

Limited Edition, Exclusive Experience

Isotta Fraschini plans to produce only 12 units of the Tipo 6 LMH Strada, enhancing its exclusivity. Priced at 3.2 million Euros (equivalent to $3.4 million), it competes with the likes of the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport in terms of cost but stands apart in its limited production and direct lineage to Le Mans racing.

Alessandro Fassina, the president of Isotta Fraschini, expressed the emotional connection the Tipo 6 LMH Strada provides, stating, “The emotions that you can experience when driving such a racing car have no equivalent in other road cars.”
