Captured: Shelby SuperCars Tuatara

Features I By John Beltz Snyder I May 08, 2013
Shelby SuperCars (SSC) is developing the hyper-fast Tuatara here in the United States. Besides looking completely amazing, this sucker will be fast and powerful.
SSC recently dyno-tested the Tuatara’s biturbocharged, 6.9-liter V-8 engine, and while the standard car will produce 1350 horsepower and 1280 pound-feet of torque when sold, the motor is actually capable of 1700 horsepower. We can only imagine what that sounded like during testing, especially considering the Tuatara’s stratospheric 9200-rpm redline.
With a dry weight of 2750 pounds, the Tuatara should be able to do 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds, with a projected top speed of 276 miles per hour.
Gears will be swapped with a seven-speed manual of seven-speed SMG paddle shift transmission.

The winglets, taillights, and exhaust draw the eye and bewilder the mind.

This interior rendering would look at home in a Kubrick sci-fi.

Carbon: the building block of life…and really cool wheels.
