Be A Winding Road Guest Blogger!

Features I By Winding Road Staff I January 21, 2011

We’ve got a lot of really smart readers out there. That’s the approximate conclusion we’ve reached after years of perusing your comments, responding to your emails, occasionally answering your phone calls, and generally interacting with the Winding Road faithful. And while our editorial team may be doing most of the driving, and car-reviewing, we appreciate that there’s a wealth of knowledge and opinion out there that you have to share with us.

It’s with all of that in mind that we present a new, experimental Guest Blogger project. We’d like you to write for the WR audience, expounding as you see fit on matters automotive. Send us your tips, essays, lists, adventures, project reports—any content that you feel will be compelling to our enthusiastic audience. If we like what we read, we’ll publish your Guest Blog on WindingRoad.com, and do our darnedest to promote it to our readership.

There are, of course, a few rules to follow:

1. Include the name that you’d like your work to be published under, ideally just your real name. (We don’t want to get too personal here, but we won’t publish, even a brilliant essay, given to us by some guy named C***Sandwich. Sorry)

2. Write what you want, but submissions that are insulting/derogatory/libelous or inappropriately inflammatory will never see the light of day.

3. We don’t really want your car review (even if you really love your car). We do want your interesting and original thoughts on most other automotive topics: history, racing, technology, maintenance, great roads, personalities, greenformance, etc.

4. Submission may be edited by WR for style and content. (Submitters retain ownership of their submissions but grant Winding Road an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully-paid, transferrable, worldwide license to use, copy, publicly perform, display, distribute, modify, adapt or reformat submissions as we deem fit. Phew.)

5. Original content only folks. Cheaters/plagiarizers will be laughed at and then dismissed.

6. Send all submissions to [email protected]. It would be helpful to include the term Guest Blogger in your e-mail’s subject line. If you send your text in the form of a weird, non-standard, or suspicious-looking file format, we probably won’t risk our computer by opening your virus it.

Beyond those few guidelines, the game is wide open. Stay tuned for the first Guest Blog examples in the near future (we’ve already got a few in the hopper). We can’t wait to read, and share, the words you have to offer.
