After Mercedes-Benz dropped the legendary M279 V12, another date we were told would never come has arrived: the Mercedes-Benz Station Wagon will cease to exist (in 2030). Beginning in 2025 with the axing of the CLA-based wagon, Stuttgart will begin winding down production of all wagon variants. By the time the almost entirely electrified future arrives in 2030, the days of the Mercedes-Benz station wagon will be over.
Mercedes-Benz has always ensured to “take care” of some of their more eccentric clientele by promising to offer the wagon, but according to Car and Driver, the German auto giant plans to cull 19 current body styles, focusing instead on profit (shame).
We found a great article by driving.ca that goes over the history of one of the most iconic family cars of all time – the Mercedes-Benz wagon. Read it here.
