Dimensionally, the new 3 is significantly more aggressive than the car it replaces, measuring up at .6 inches lower and 1.6 inches wider. The wheelbase has been stretched 2.4 inches, while the overall length is down 1.8 inches. That means the 2014 3 is wider, lower, and has shorter overhangs than the car it replaces.
BMW has unveiled the all-new, third-generation X5, which combines weight reductions and improved aerodynamics with the typically excellent powertrains BMW is known for.

Back in December, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its updated E-Class Sedan and Wagon. Now, we’ve gotten our first look at the sportier-looking Coupe and Cabriolet. Immediately noticeable on all four variants are the new headlights. The dual lamps that have identified the E-Class for the past several generations have been replaced with a unit that is more in keeping with current design language.
Remember the Acura RLX Concept from the 2012 New York Auto Show? Well, here it is again. This is the production version, and for the most part it looks identical to the Concept shown in NYC. The RLX is destined to be the flagship of the Acura range when it goes on sale in the spring of 2013.
When the Mini Cooper Paceman makes its public debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, it will be the newest installment in what has been an aggressive lineup expansion from the diminutive British marquee. Essentially a coupe version of the larger Countryman, the Paceman will be available in the United Kingdom beginning on March 16, 2013, for a shade over $30,000. There is no formal arrival date set for the US market as of yet.
The Mazda has been the undisputed king of the roadsters since it burst on to the scene 23 years ago. The Mini’s been one of our favorite hot hatches, but we’ve been plenty curious to see just how the all-new Roadster matched up with the legendary MX-5. To find out, we spent a day shooting, videoing, and most importantly, driving these two awesome roadsters. This’ll be a fun one.
In our second edition of this feature, we covered the E90 BMW 335i sedan. Now that we’ve sampled both the four- and six-cylinder F30 3-Series, it’s probably an appropriate time to give it the BVL treatment.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new GL-Class at the New York International Auto Show. The large SUV has been updated quite a bit, especially in the technology department, and is slated to arrive in dealerships in September of this year.
The 2013 SRT Viper has arrived.

Unlike the 2012 vintage, the 2013 model will pack two different engine options. The top of the range will be the GLK350, packing a direct-injected, 3.5-liter V-6. With 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, the refined V-6 is 34 more horsepower and 15 more pound-feet of torque than last year’s model. Both standard and 4Matic models will hit 60 miles per hour in about 6.5 seconds, and top out at 130 miles per hour. Stop-start is also standard.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the AMG-ified version of its SL-Class roadster. Called the SL63, it follows the Mercedes tradition of offering a hotter version of just about everything it sells.
With the dawn of a new year just behind us, we decided it was high time we got another long-term tester into the office. This time around, we snagged a 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe for a whopping 366 days. That’s right, we’ll be driving this Mini through the snows of February, the ice of April, the humidity of August, and the changing colors of October, as we take it on road trips both far and wide.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL has arrived. The new SL’s shape borrows heavily from both the SLS AMG supercar, and the smaller SLK that debuted earlier this year. That new body is also 242 pounds lighter than the previous SL’s shell.
If there’s one thing that Mercedes-Benz has taught us over the last few years, it’s that the suffix “63 AMG” is a powerfully entertainingly one. Certainly the C- and E-Class get along fine with AMG-tuned V-8 engines, and given what a leap forward we found the basic ML this summer, we expect the high-po version to be the best driver’s SUV in the history of the model. (Small expectations, yes?)
The ink is still drying on our first drive of the Mini Coupe, and already the Anglo-German brand is dropping another model on us. Called the Mini Roadster, it is essentially a convertible version of the Coupe, sporting a similar two-seat, three-box design.
We’re enamored with the Ferrari FF because of the brand heritage, its bold styling, the interesting use of all-wheel drive, and of course its 669-horsepower V-12 engine. Our sister publication, AVguide, has found yet another reason to love the car: its 15-speaker JBL Quantum Logic surround sound system. Here’s what AVguide has to say about the FF and its audio system on display at the 2011 Cedia Expo:
