Over the last weekend of June, Sébastien Loeb set a new record for the fastest run up to the summit in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. In the Peugeot 208 T16, has made it up the mountain in just 8:13.878, over a minute an a half faster then the record set last year by Red Bull teammate Rhys Millen.
Venturi, a manufacturer out of France, is hoping to break its own electric vehicle speed record of 307 miles per hour. The VBB-3 will attempt to go much faster at Bonneville Speed Week this August.
Rhys Millen will defend his 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb win, and challenge his own world record in the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe PM580T. Hyundai has released this first video of a series about the team’s 2013 Pikes Peak run.
Last weekend was the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Before, nobody had ever completed the 12.42-mile run in under ten minutes. That ended on Sunday, when Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima smashed his own world record, finishing in 9:51.278, all while dodging spectators, drifting through the dirt, and coming perilously close to driving off the mountain.
It’s Friday, which means it’s almost time to break out the video game paddles and take on the Nürburgring from the comfort of our couch. To help us with our line, Ferrari has generously posted this video of the 599XX breaking the seven-minute barrier for a production-derived car. The time: 6 minutes, 58.16 seconds.
