All of the recent rain in Austin and Southern California has had us thinking about our experiences racing and running HPDE in the wet. The significant changes to balancing the car in corners, increased braking distances, being even more tender with our inputs; it’s a real set of challenges that demands a lot of focus and nerves.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: MX-5 Cup offers some of the closest racing in the country. Here we ride with Winding Road customer racing driver Tom Martin III at a recent Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup race at Watkins Glen International.
Over the years, out of the many forms of racing there have emerged drivers that have won race after race and championship after championship. Overshadowed by these few stars are a multitude of drivers that few know and remember. Some, had short-lived careers that never allowed them to reach their zenith, and some have simply been lost in the crowd. In this series we will attempt to remember a few drivers who did wonders on the track but were ultimately outshone. One of these little known drivers is Francois Cevert.
