Remember the first car you ever owned? Perhaps it was a hand-me-down from another family member, or maybe you stockpiled some cash from the summer job at the local fast food joint to buy a rusty fixer-upper? Regardless of how it came to your possession, it was your first car, and if you’re a fan of this magazine then odds are you probably did something to it that—at least in your mind— made it better. Perhaps you went for a set of wheels or a loud stereo, or if you had delusions of mechanical ability as young car owners often do, you probably hacked up the exhaust in the name of less backpressure. And then there’s the favorite pastime of fabricating a cold air induction system from dryer ducting and zip ties procured from the local hardware store. You did that? Yeah, us too.
We don’t know many of the details, but a gallery of photos on Underground Racing’s website, found through Automotorblog, offers up a visual preview of the tuner’s biturbocharged version of the already sublime Ferrari 458 Italia.
We were excited when Hyundai dropped the Genesis Coupe on the public. The brand has been shaking things up in the automotive world, and the thought of a Korean, rear-drive sports coupe sounded particularly sweet. After driving the Coupe, we quickly came to really appreciate it, and when Hyundai finally released the Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec, we couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel, and we were sure there were oodles of tuners and budget racers that shared the sentiment.
IND has put the finishing touches on its BMW M3 project car, which has been nicknamed the Blue Max. Inspired by the BMW M3 GTS and IND’s own Atlantis project IND’s newest creation has received a treatment including a lot of carbon fiber, a roll cage, interior upgrades, and, of course, some goodies under the hood.
Don’t think for a moment that there aren’t a couple million Acura Integras with big wings, body kits, and faux R badges running around the country. These clones can make finding a true R something of a challenge, but there are some sure-fire ways to separate the purebloods from the mixed breeds.
Hold on a second you V-8 guys and gals. This isn’t some stickered up import left over from the set of The Fast and The Furious. In fact, it’s not really stickered up at all, save for the blazing red Rs plastered on both rear quarter panels and the back hatch. These red emblems weren’t purchased at local parts stores, however; they were installed at the factory, along with a host of engine and suspension upgrades that turned the Integra into a true performance legend.
Taking the fabulous BMW 335i and trying to make it better than an M3 is a tempting but difficult exercise. Not only is the M3 a very good car, so is the 335i. If anyone has a chance to pull this off, it would be Dinan, the long-standing mega tuners of BMWs in the U.S.
