While we were attending the launch event for the Kia Rio5 in Austin, Texas the kind people from Kia arranged a visit to the site of the Circuit Of The Americas, home to the US Grand Prix Formula 1 race in 2012 and Moto GP in 2013. It was our first chance to get a close-up look at the topography with the track area clearly demarked.

USGP In Austin To Learn From Korea’s F1 Close Call?

As we reported a month ago, F1 track design regulars Tilke GmbH are busily working to create an interesting 3.4-mile circuit just outside of Austin for the US Grand Prix. The track incorporates ideas and learnings from current F1 circuits, adapted to the gently rolling countryside east of Austin.

Designers Reveal Formula 1 Austin Circuit Plans

The organizers of the US Grand Prix have revealed the design of the circuit to be built near Austin, Texas. Created by track designer Hermann Tilke and Full Throttle Productions, the 3.4-mile track has 20 turns and 130 feet of elevation change.

Monticello Motor Club May Host U.S. Formula 1 Grand Prix

A letter published by AutoWeek revealed that Monticello Motor Club president Ari Strauss has been in talks with Bernie Ecclestone, president and CEO of Formula One Management, about hosting a grand prix at the private New York track.
