Next month at the Geneva Motor Show, Audi plans to show off the third generation TT to the public. In the meantime however, Audi was…
Set to debut in the 2014 calendar year, the new Audi TT is setting its sights squarely on the Porsche 911 this time around. Riding on an all-new and lighter platform to go along with its roster of engines due for a freshening, including the especially-potent 380 horsepower unit used in the TT RS, dreams of going toe to toe with Porsche’s nearly untouchable sports car might not be pipe dreams anymore.
Alongside the Sport Quattro, Audi is displaying another all-wheel-drive concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show with the Nanuk Quattro. This V-10 TDI monster is capable of attacking more terrain than just the track.
The newest-generation of the Volkswagen Beetle is quite fun on its own, we found to our amusement. Being able to drop the top and hear the chug of the grease-burning TDI engine only adds to the fun.
This is the Master Landing Page for the Audi A3/S3. From now on, as we further review this car, we will be updating this page with whatever fresh content we create. Future drive reviews, updated specifications, videos, and other relevant information will all be found right here, in one convenient spot.
Caught by the spy photographers over at Autoblog, this pre-production XL1 prototype was snapped during some winter testing.
Check out our comments during our recent drive of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. There’s a commenter named WannabuyaDiesel. He’s a rather strong advocate of a diesel-powered Jeep. While we can’t deliver the news that he so desperately wants to hear, we can tell you about four all-new diesel models that will be coming to the United States quite soon.
On the occasion of driving Acura’s new ILX Hybrid Tech, several members of the Winding Road team found themselves asking what exactly hybridized premium-brand small cars have to offer, at least in theory. But at the same time, we couldn’t help but ask two follow-up questions. First, do hybridized premium small cars deliver in reality what they promise on paper? Second, are there potentially cheaper and/or better ways to get the things we think we want from compact premium hybrids?
Volkswagen’s taken the wraps off of the third-generation Beetle convertible, ahead of its public debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Volkswagen unveiled its Alltrack Concept at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The concept is essentially a lifted, all-wheel-drive, five-door version of the Passat TDI.
Eurocarblog recently posted up spy shots of an updated Audi Q5 out frolicking in the snow.
We originally saw the Volkswagen Cross Coupe at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show back in December. Now, VW has brought out a new version of the concept, complete with a fresh new powertrain in time for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
Chicago’s 2012 auto show press days don’t start until tomorrow, but that hasn’t stopped a few early birds from unveiling new products. Volkswagen is one such manufacturer, taking the wraps off the new diesel Beetle.
As of today, there’s no question that the Prius V wins within its small market segment. Of course that conclusion is helped along greatly by the fact that it basically has this sliver of the market—a very high-mpg small wagon—to itself.
Audi has updated the popular A4 and the performance version, the S4. It features a slightly new look, as well as a bump in performance.
As we drive the Lexus CT200h (and enjoy it for the most part), we’re reminded of some of the other fuel misers we’ve driven and responded to favorably (again, for the most part). We decided to compare a handful of these cars side by side, to get a visual understanding of how they perform.
At the launch of the new Jetta, we were able to go out and try the gasoline-powered versions. What we found was a car that seemed to fit the bill as far as the marketplace was concerned, but wasn’t quite ready for the enthusiast seal of approval. Still, we managed to have some fun in it, despite some concerns about acceleration.
Regardless of engine, the Passat was quite simply one of the best mid-sizers in terms of ride and handling that we’d experienced in some time. The damping walked a perfect line between sportiness and comfort, with very little lateral movement, even under hard cornering. Aggressive brake and throttle inputs didn’t do much to disturb the car either. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the most communicative of vehicles. It was difficult to feel out things like grip levels and cornering loads due to the lack of movement through the suspension.
If your home garage rests somewhere in the United States, your local fill-em-up joint is probably north of $3.00 per gallon for the basic stuff, never mind premium. Yes, fuel prices overseas are generally much higher, but at least the foreign shores are home to neat oil burners that can nip 60 miles per gallon. Granted they’re quite slow, but as we’ve proven time and again in these digital pages, outright speed isn’t necessarily required for a rip snorting good time. And if fuel prices hit the feared $4.00-per-gallon mark, trading a modest 0-60 time for a pocket full of dead presidents will be a welcome deal for many motorists.

Audi celebrated its five-millionth A4 today in Ingolstadt. The milestone car that rolled off the line is a red A4 Avant 3.0 TDI Quattro.
