Before the Civic Type R and GR Corolla, there was the Ford Focus RS, a venerable and much-beloved member of the super sport compact fight club.
Porsche has been taking its time developing the hardcore version of the already potent 991 generation 911 GT3, which is understandable given the latest GT3’s inclination to spontaneously combust. Some lightly camouflaged GT3 RS test mules were spotted testing in Nürburg earlier this year, but these photographs, used for patent filing and discovered by CAR, now show us the new GT3 RS in full form.
Audi has announced pricing on the 2014 RS7. The high-performance version of the five-door fastback A7 and S7 will start at a base price of $104,900 (plus $895 in destination and handling charges).
Audi has expressed its interest in the possibility of bringing DTM racing to North America after an exciting announcement from DTM, Grand-Am, and IMSA.
Cadillac recently announced that the next-generation CTS wouldn’t be offered in a wagon. This makes us sad, as it essentially means the death of the superb CTS-V Wagon. Have no fear, though, as Audi’s come to the rescue with this. It is the RS6 Avant and it will be very fast.
Much like it did with the old RS4, Audi has followed up its RS5 Coupe with an RS5 Cabriolet.
The latest Porsche 911 Carrera (991 if you sprechen sie Porsche) has barely been around long enough for us to get to know it, and yet, here we are with the first of inevitable variations. Rather than a 911 Turbo S Carrera GTS RS 3.8 GT3, though, this is a simple all-wheel-drive version of everyone’s favorite rear-engined sports car.
For a while now, rumors have been circulating about that Ford will be launching the hot Focus RS hatchback sometime soon, potentially as a 2015 model. A recent report on Car Advice, however, appears to dispel that rumor somewhat.
Audi’s latest car to wear the legendary RS badge has arrived. The 2013 RS4 harkens back to the original RS4, coming in a long-roof Avant body style only (the second-generation car was available as a sedan or convertible, in addition to an Avant).
In the newest issue, we travel to Spain to drive BMW’s newest generation of the 3-Series at Catalunya. Plus, there’s tons of other car content in Winding Road Issue 77.
We knew it was coming, and now we have our first look at the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS ahead of its debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. The five-door-only Sonic RS uses the same 138-horsepower, turbocharged engine that is optional in the standard car, only it uses a freer-flowing sport exhaust, that should add a touch of aggression to the semi-hot hatch.
We’ve just finished two thousand miles in the 2011 Porsche GT3 RS 4.0. They were two thousand mind-searingly memorable miles, in part because they were on some of our great western roads, including Rt. 4 in New Mexico, Rt. 145 in Colorado, and Rts. 95 and 24 in Utah, to name a few. And memorable, in no small part, because this is the last of the 997-generation Porsches, and when Porsche gives a going-away present to its owners, they do it in style.
Just when you thought there was already a Porsche 911 for every occasion, the fine folks from Stuttgart drop a 4.0-liter, dry-sump, 500-horsepower monster into the shapely rear-end of the already awesome GT3 RS, creating the 911 GT3 RS 4.0. Thanks to the race-derived flat-six, the 4.0 can scoot to 60 in 3.8 seconds, and will hit 124 miles per hour in under 12 seconds. As God intended, this 911 is only available with a six-speed manual.
The Audi RS5 coupe really has everything going for it if we stare it down while it’s sitting still or if we study the spec sheet. How can you go wrong, after all, with a 444-horsepower, latest-generation, 4.2-liter FSI V-8 with all that power maxing out at the 8250-rpm redline? The torque comes out to assist nicely, too, at 317 maximum pound-feet between 4000 and 6000 rpm.
The aging Scion tC coupe is in great need of a substantial refresh, but Toyota is once again offering consumers a special, limited-production version of the car. The Release Series 6.0 features a Speedway Blue paint job, as well as an Alpine audio system, HD radio, and a navigation system with a 4.3-inch touch-screen display, offering turn-by-turn voice guidance, three-dimensional map viewing, and a spiffy tC RS guidance icon. (Oooh. Aaah.)
