Watch as Mark Wilkins in the #38 Kia Optima manages to secure the closest ever GTS margin of victory, 0.039 of a second, over Alec Udell in the #17 Watson Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302S during the Pirelli World Challenge Race 2 at Streets of Toronto.
After good finishes at Road America and Toronto that put us back into championship contention, we had three weekends to battle for the big prize. We went to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in early August, Raceway Sonoma at the end of the month, and Miller Motorsports Park in early September for the finale.
Butch Leitzinger pilots the #8 Bentley Continental GT3 of Dyson Racing Team Bentley to a fourth place finish at Road America. In his debut appearance driving the Bentley Continental GT3, Leitzinger set the second fastest lap time in two sprint races held at Road America. Finishing sixth and fourth place respectively in a doubleheader at 18th-19th June, the event also marked Bentley’s return to the North American racing circuit since competing in the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2003.

As we are now into the second half of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge season, a lot has changed in the GT ranks, especially for our Hawk Performance/CRP Racing team. Those that have been following along will remember that we changed to an Audi R8 after the season had already begun, so we had to learn quickly to get up to speed. After our successes at Road America, we are well and truly in the championship hunt and our primary goal is narrowing the gap to the points leader, O’Connell.
