Nissan has shown a new Leaf Nismo RC pure EV race car. The dual 120 kW motors can deliver 478 lb-ft of torque through an AWD system. But the big thing is that the extensive use of carbon fiber reduces the weight of the Leaf RC to 2690 lb. That torque:weight combo allows a 3.3 sec 0-60 time and the low CG should help with handling. We think it looks better than the street car version, too.

While The Stones sang that “You can’t always get what you want”, they added that “If you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need”. With Nissan’s unveiling of the GTR-LM (during the Super Bowl, interestingly) WEC LMP1 endurance racing may indeed get what it needs.
This week we’ve got the keys to Nissan’s sporty crossver, the Juke Nismo, here in the uprated RS trim. We don’t normally think of crossovers as the sort of vehicle that one might consider taking to a local autocross or track day, but after a week with the Juke Nismo RS it’s clear that the engineers from Nismo weren’t content to just give the Juke a bodykit and wheel makeover and call it a day.
Nissan’s ZEOD RC may be able to run an entire lap of the 24 Hours of Le Mans under full electric power, but after that, it will still call upon traditional internal combustion to keep things moving. Nismo president Shoichi Miyatani recently highlighted the light weight of the 1.5-liter three cylinder motor that provides that motivation in a very non traditional way, cradling the powerplant in his arms like a St. Bernard puppy.
This is the overview page for the 2015 Nissan 370Z Nismo. Rumors, news, reviews, road tests, specifications, videos, awards, and other relevant information will all be included here as they become available.
Currently holding the production car lap time record around the Nurburgring by a wide margin with a time of 7.08.679, it’s clear Nismo’s engineers have created a machine which is very much at home on a road course. Without question, it’s the most track-focused version of the R35 road car we’ve yet seen. But what’s it like to actually drive?
This week at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nissan rolled out a NISMO performance concept version of its compact sedan. But before you start to yawn, you should be aware that this is a Sentra you’d actually want to drive.
A while back, Nissan announced its exciting hybrid-electric racecar prototype, called the ZEOD RC (Zero Emissions On Demand Racing Car), designed to study electric racing technology, and compete in next year’s 24 Hours Of Le Mans race. Now, the speedy EV makes its Japan debut, along with more interesting details and several new videos to go along with it.
NISMO, Nissan’s performance arm, has always been a bit of an odd duck. It never had quite the sanctioning of AMG or M, or even F-Sport, instead being relegated to a 370Z with a tweaked suspension and an aftermarket parts catalog. That’s all set to change, as NISMO is now the official global performance car and motorsports sub-brand for Nissan.
Nissan is expanding its performance brand, Nismo, and the Leaf concept follows the Juke Nismo concept’s debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Nissan is using the occasion of the New York Auto Show to unveil a new conception of its Leaf EV—a thoroughbred racing electric that’s set to be called the Leaf Nismo RC.
