With the dawn of a new year just behind us, we decided it was high time we got another long-term tester into the office. This time around, we snagged a 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe for a whopping 366 days. That’s right, we’ll be driving this Mini through the snows of February, the ice of April, the humidity of August, and the changing colors of October, as we take it on road trips both far and wide.
As we wrap up another year of great driving, we’d like to thank you, our readers, for making Winding Road possible. It is a labor of love, and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to get to share our experiences, opinions, knowledge, and humor with you every day, and it wouldn’t be possible—or nearly as rewarding—without the passion you bring to our humble publication. Thanks for reading, thanks for talking with us, and thanks for coming along for the ride with us as we pursue of love of cars, driving, and writing.
With Frankfurt in the books, LA and SEMA upcoming, and the Tokyo show looming in the far east, there are more than a few interesting new greenformance-oriented models to look forward to.
Happy Friday, again. This week, we bring you one short video of a spectacular close call from onboard a rally car. According to the video’s description, the driver is Dražen Ćurić from Croatia, and the brave co-driver is Albert Horn from Hungary.
To properly ring in the New Year, we’ll be spending the week with a gorgeous Audi A5 Coupe, equipped with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and a good-to-use six-speed manual transmission.
Cadillac’s Art & Science design language will be heightened at this January’s Detroit Auto Show. GM’s non-Buick luxury division will be previewing an entirely new concept car, and we’re told it’s nothing we’ve seen before, so go ahead and rule out any possibility of a production ATS sedan to rival the C-Class and 3-Series.
