Mercedes-Benz Bringing SLS AMG GT Final Editon To Los Angeles Auto Show

It’s with a heavy heart that we report that SLS AMG’s days are numbered, despite having only been on sale in the US since 2010. However, Mercedes-Benz plans to give the coupe a proper swansong in the form of the limited-run SLS AMG GT Final Edition, which is set to debut next week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Driven: 2013 Audi S7

Rule number one of the S7 has to do with where it sits in the world—it is not merely a V-8 variant of the A7 (albeit a biturbocharged V-8 with 420 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque). That’s a difficult rule to remember, particularly when one looks at Audi’s current lineup.

Recap: The Images Of The 2013 Mille Miglia

The Mille Miglia was a 1000-mile road race that went from Brescia, Italy to Rome and all the way back. Originally ran in 1927, the Mille lasted for 30 years, and was considered one of the most dangerous endurance races in the world, taking the lives of 56 people over 30 years. The event is far safer today. And with the expanded role of social media, we’re able to follow along with the day’s events. We’ve put together 30 pictures, culled from Twitter, to give everyone a taste of the atmosphere at this year’s Mille. We’ve linked to the user that took the shot if you want to see more of that person. We’ve also linked to the individual tweet, if you want to jump in and retweet from your own account. Enjoy!

Preview: Mercedes-Benz S-Class

This is the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. It is the most important car of the 2013, and is likely the most important car of the next five years. Yes, we’re serious. You see, the S-Class is genesis when it comes to production-ready technologies. If an option exists on your car, it was probably pioneered by the S-Class. In the unusual case that it wasn’t born in an S-Class, than this Teutonic limo probably perfected it.

The Fastest Lap? Schumacher To Lap Nürburgring In F1 Car

Retired for the second time, you’d be forgiven for thinking seven-time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher would be taking it easy. Maybe he’d take one of his Harleys out for a ride here and there, or have a nice game of golf, tennis, or soccer. Nope, not even close.

Driven: 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish

Yet when you’re behind the wheel, these figures and metrics and the fact that there are faster, cheaper cars available mean very little. Driving an Aston Martin isn’t a performance choice so much as a lifestyle choice. You feel a little bit taller, a little bit happier just standing next to a beauty like this. Driving an Aston Martin singles you out as a connoisseur, someone that could have a Ferrari, or Lamborghini, or Bentley, but recognizes that there’s more to life than 0-60 times and top speeds that you’ll never hit. That doesn’t mean this isn’t an inspiring car to drive, though, as we found out during a long weekend testing it.
