Volkswagen unveiled its Alltrack Concept at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The concept is essentially a lifted, all-wheel-drive, five-door version of the Passat TDI.
Chicago’s 2012 auto show press days don’t start until tomorrow, but that hasn’t stopped a few early birds from unveiling new products. Volkswagen is one such manufacturer, taking the wraps off the new diesel Beetle.
As of today, there’s no question that the Prius V wins within its small market segment. Of course that conclusion is helped along greatly by the fact that it basically has this sliver of the market—a very high-mpg small wagon—to itself.
Volkswagen debuted the hybrid version of its popular Jetta sedan at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Here, we offer you these live photos of the car from the show floor.
At the launch of the new Jetta, we were able to go out and try the gasoline-powered versions. What we found was a car that seemed to fit the bill as far as the marketplace was concerned, but wasn’t quite ready for the enthusiast seal of approval. Still, we managed to have some fun in it, despite some concerns about acceleration.
Volkswagen has unveiled a more potent version its Jetta sedan. The latest iteration of the GLI badge, which debuted in the US way back in 1984, is powered by Volkswagen’s familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which it borrows from the Golf-based GTI. Power figures remain the same, with 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque sent to the front wheels. Gearbox choices mirror the GTI, with a standard six-speed manual and the optional (and awesome) six-speed DSG.
The WR staff has had a whole lot of seat time in the standard Jetta TDI, thanks to our yearlong loan of that sedan during 2008-2009. I really enjoyed the basic version of the diesel sedan, so I was really looking forward to our loan of the hotter car.
Volkswagen has just unveiled its sixth-generation Jetta at a massive celebration in New York’s Times Square. The new Jetta has done away with the questionable looks (no more chrome nose!) of the current model, and instead has been given a more chiseled look, that puts it in line with the current face of the VW range.
As promised, here are those pictures of the shiny Volkswagen New Compact Coupe hybrid concept vehicle revealed at the Detroit show today.
